LCC Receives $1.2 Million NSF Grant for STEM Education

Lakeview Community College has been awarded a $1.2 million grant from the National Science Foundation to expand STEM education opportunities for underrepresented students. The three-year grant will fund new laboratory equipment, student scholarships, and a mentorship program connecting LCC students with STEM professionals in the community.

Grant Initiatives

  • $400,000 for upgraded lab equipment in biology, chemistry, and physics
  • $350,000 in scholarships for students from underrepresented groups pursuing STEM degrees
  • $250,000 for a STEM Mentorship Program pairing students with industry professionals
  • $200,000 for faculty professional development in inclusive teaching practices

The grant was secured through a proposal led by Dr. Linda Chen, Health Sciences Department Chair, in collaboration with the Science and Mathematics Department. LCC was one of only 25 community colleges nationwide to receive this competitive award.
